Accuracy

We write the guides carefully and link sources where we can. Even so, garage doors, openers, and local codes vary. Information on this site can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong for your door. Cost ranges are general typical or national figures, not a quote. Check your opener manual and talk to a qualified technician before you rely on anything here.

No professional relationship

Everything on this site is general information only. It is not professional, contractor, engineering, safety, legal, or financial advice. Reading the site, submitting a form, or emailing us does not create a contractor, consultant, or any other professional relationship with Joshua Israel Ventures LLC. Joshua Israel Ventures LLC is not a garage door contractor and does not inspect or repair doors.

Do it yourself safety

Garage door springs and the cables attached to them hold a lot of stored energy. If they slip or break they can cause serious injury or property damage. Do not adjust, wind, unwind, or remove torsion or extension springs, lift cables, cable drums, or bottom brackets yourself. Leave those parts to a trained technician.

Keep people, pets, and cars out of the opening when a door is stuck, crooked, or hanging.
Unplug the opener before you touch anything on it.
Never tape over, unplug, or bypass the safety sensors.
If a door feels very heavy, binds, or tilts, stop and call a professional.

If you act on anything you read here, you do so at your own risk.

Money, ads, and links

This site currently has no affiliate links and no ads that earn money. Links to outside sources (for example DASMA, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and cost reports) are there for reference and earn nothing. No company pays to be mentioned in an article.

The site is meant to earn money from garage door contractors, as described on the For contractors page: a contractor may pay Joshua Israel Ventures LLC for quote requests that homeowners send through this site. Contractor payments are not live yet. If that changes, the arrangement will stay disclosed here and in the Terms and Privacy pages. Homeowners are never charged for using the quote form.
